An early 1960s Vulcain Cricket Ref. S2315A, the mechanical alarm watch famously worn by several U.S. Presidents and one of the most recognizable designs in Vulcain's history.
The 34mm gold-plated case with stainless steel caseback houses an original brushed silver-champagne dial. Applied gilt multi-faceted hour markers are paired with gilt baton hands, a central sweep seconds hand, and an alarm indicator hand with an open arrowhead tip. Radially aligned lume plots sit just outside the hour markers, with the dial signed "RA SWISS MADE RA" at six o'clock, indicating the use of radium lume. The watch retains its signed "V" crown.
Powered by the Vulcain Caliber 120 manual-wind movement. The alarm is operated via the pusher at two o'clock, while the patented dual-layer "Echo Chamber" caseback features sixteen sound slots designed to amplify the Cricket's signature alarm. Service history is unknown, but the watch is running well and the alarm maintains a steady, even tone.
The watch is in good condition with visible brassing and light pitting on the bezel edge, primarily between six and nine o'clock, as well as on the tips and undersides of the lugs. The case and crystal show scratches and scuffs consistent with age, but no major damage.
Paired with a black Hirsch leather strap.
